Managers must be assertive and confident to take a leading role by following directions and being able to give direction. Managers must have a strong personality and assert themselves when the opportunity presents itself. Being able to come together with senior management shows strength. Excellent coaching skills are required as this will be a large part of the duties. Most managers learn to focus more on results than methods. Communication and dialogue are the most effective methods of knowing what is happening in intercultural and diverse environments. The success of a business depends on the quality of communication and understanding that exists between leaders, managers, supervisors, other colleagues and customers. Staff must know the elements of professional behavior and it is the manager's responsibility to coach staff in meeting these standards. As a cross-functional team leader, it is imperative to recognize the talent and contribution of each employee. Team leaders need to find ways to keep your teams focused on goals, metrics, and results. Staff must be able to foster a sense of diversity, interdependence and responsibility towards each other and clients. Resolving conflicts between staff or through customer complaints is another technique you must learn and maintain. People tend to grasp concepts more accurately by being able to visualize the company's goals and projected results, so a more visual manager will find themselves in the middle of a sheet of paper.... .. blunt telephone manner, appropriate body language and careful attention to customer desires are all details that require close monitoring.
