  • Essay / lp Me

Generation Me, or often called millennials, am part of the controversial generation born between 1980 and 2000. Most older generations label these young people as lazy, superficial, selfish and obsessed with fame. However, some people have different views about them and characterize these millennials as creative, optimistic, open-minded and efficient. This controversy has sparked much research by professors and others regarding the “Me Generation.” However, each generation has its strengths and weaknesses. “Millennials” are often linked to narcissism or a self-centered characteristic. This can be easily concluded from the confidence, high expectations and haughty attitude they display. They grew up being told they were special or better than others. Eventually, around the age of 14, they will arrive at a state of mind. Even though they may not always succeed in pursuing or starting something new, some of them are very motivated and persistent. Mark Zuckerbergs is an example of one of the successful millennials. The famous inventor of Facebook showed an exceptional quality of millennials. However, not everyone is as lucky as Zuckerberg. They have lost their war against failure. They gave up on what they thought was a brilliant idea which then turned into a stupid idea after being rejected. They no longer believe in their originality and lose all encouragement to try to achieve their goal. Once they lose their determination, it can have adverse effects. This “Generation Me” grew up being pompous, unlike the baby boomers and older generations who put the needs of their family before themselves. Thus, losing self-confidence can lead to an end to one's career, unlike older generations who will persevere to flourish their family..
