The explanation behind Haiti's poverty could ultimately be traced back to 1492, when the country was first colonized. After being welcomed by the French in 1697, Haiti was essentially a lucrative region. For the next hundred years, France enjoyed immense prosperity thanks to Haiti's sugar production while the territory and people were mistreated. Methods, for example, product rotation were more likely than not ignored in attempts to maintain continuous tolls and impact on profits. From then on and into the future, Haiti faced deforestation and regular cataclysms making its domain more weakened than most of the Dominican Republic's neighboring countries. Its rich customary properties were used for the benefit of France, the nation which had control of it in abundance for 100 years. Rightly so, Haiti never had the chance to find itself unquestionably financially free.
