  • Essay / Could pro bono work help repair the healthcare system?

Among the many professions in the world are the physician who is usually a specialist in human medicine and the lawyer who is a professional in the field of law engaging in lawsuits and other legal matters . For years, they have always engaged in free practices in their field. That is, they are known to repeatedly offer free or subsidized legal services in the public service, that is, free client representation and legal advice. This is what we call “pro bono”. Doctors offer voluntary services in the form of medical camps. However, there is no clear obligation regarding this. Medical services are crucial in every community, so it is necessary for doctors to offer pro bono services. Apart from providing services to the needy in the community, it also benefits the practitioners. When lawyers engage in pro bono practice, they can, for example, save innocent people from unjust conviction, ensure that justice is served and, at the same time, expand their markets and hone their skills. It is no different in the case of doctors. Above all, it's simply the right thing to do. For example, in the famous Heinz dilemma, when the doctor could not let Heinz get a medicine for the dying woman at half price and later pay the remaining half, he had not done the right thing and was inhumane . Worse still, Heinz had done everything in its power to get as much money as possible for the drug, the price of which was ten times the manufacturing cost. Well, that doctor would have at least accepted half of Heinz's price in order to save a life, because that would have been the right thing to do. At a recent free medical camp, many people were put off due to the lack of medical personnel to care for...... middle of paper ......reduced by the national government which created a law requiring volunteers to take responsibility. for their actions. This would ensure that volunteers act in the best interest of the patient. In conclusion, authentic practices of doctors can be both good and bad. However, the fact remains that the gift of life is the most precious thing on earth and therefore doctors should think about it before other things like money. Anyway, it is not only the patients who benefit, but the doctors themselves and what they will earn in the future may result from such generous acts that attracted other people. However, you have to be careful because it is not an absolutely good practice which has its own hiccups as seen above.
