    Both school systems have negative effects and positive effects. Individuals attending a coeducational school are accustomed to what real-world work environments will be like. Through strong friendships formed with the opposite sex, students learn to see issues from both perspectives, and they may have role models from a different sex. Not everything will be tailored to each individual's advantages as is supposed to be the case in single-sex schools, and co-ed students are learning about realistic workplaces. Single-sex students will be accustomed to a supportive environment in which they can concentrate easily. That's why critics of single-sex schools wonder how students will behave in a world so different from the one they're used to and whether or not they will. be able to collaborate with the opposite sex if necessary, or will he be intimidated, awkward or nervous. Due to the greater number of distractions in co-ed schools, particularly from the opposite sex and the increased desire to impress or attract attention from these distractions, co-ed schools have huge discipline problems, especially for men. In fact, approximately eighty percent of all disciplinary actions are directed against men (National Association for Single-Sex Public Education [NASSPE]). Fewer discipline problems arise in single-sex schools due to lack of diversion. In a study conducted in Seattle, Washington, an elementary school moved from coeducational to single-sex classes. It was reported that before changing the co-ed school to single-sex classes, almost thirty people per day were disciplined. However, after the change, this number dropped sharply to only one or two students per day (NASSPE).
