    Events that led to the United States' involvement in World War IIWorld War II was a war that proved to the world the formidable power of the United States. Many events led to the United States' involvement in the war, capped by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Many notable individuals helped lead the United States to victory in the war. They include General Douglas MacArthur, General Dwight Eisenhower and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. World War II also saw many major events, including Operation Overlord and the American bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Overall, the United States played a major role in World War II and demonstrated its power through strong generals, as well as its initiative and strong leadership during major events. Before the United States entered World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt signed a series of documents known as the Neutrality Acts. . These laws were passed and followed between the years 1935 and 1941 and were used to keep the United States out of the war.1 Neutrality laws limited arms sales to countries not involved in the war. and gave the United States the power to keep its citizens off ships. or travel to countries involved in the war, and prohibited loans to countries currently at war and to countries that had defaulted on previous loans.2 These laws also prohibited U.S. ships from transporting weapons to countries at war . The United States believed that if a nation at war knew that a ship was carrying weapons, that ship would be a prime target for that country, thereby drawing the United States into another war. Neutrality laws helped keep the United States out of World War II until the bombing of Pearl Harbor, at which point the United States assisted the British through a "Lend-Lease Program."
