Essay / Rising temperatures threaten life on Earth - 1786
Global warming refers to a constant increase in the Earth's temperature. Life on Earth thrives at temperatures between 30 and 45 degrees. An increase in temperature therefore threatens life on the planet and destabilizes several elements that support it. Since 1971, the temperature has continued to rise due to the fraudulent use of earth's resources leading to the emission of toxic gases. Ecology has a mechanism for sustaining life within it; the earth has an atmosphere that maintains temperature among other fundamental features of the planet that support life (Schlossberg, 55). The ozone layer that surrounds the planet creates a greenhouse effect capable of maintaining both the temperature and composition of the air, ensuring that water remains in a liquid state. Global warming is the result of careless human activities which have consequently destroyed the environment and have serious consequences most of which threaten the existence of life on the planet as shown in the discussion below. Among the factors that have contributed to global warming are environmental degradation, humans. carelessly interact with their environment, thereby leading to massive loss of forest cover, among other vital features of the Earth. Trees are vital aspects of the planet; they have a mechanism to maintain the carbon level on earth, thereby stabilizing global temperature. However, increased human activity and encroachment on forests have resulted in the loss of large forest covers. Humans have successfully reduced the size of large equatorial forests in Brazil and central Africa, among other regions. Moreover, calamities such as forest fires have aggravated the problem, leading to the loss of enormous forest resources...... middle of paper ... and the products they purchase and the use of electrical appliances. However, global warming is major because of the amount of heat released into the atmosphere, which breaks down the ozone layer. Global warming has had negative effects on the nature of the Earth and everything on it. This has led to the death of plants and animals, variable climate changes, rising and falling water levels in the oceans, lack of rain in various regions, especially semi-arid regions, drought and famine in more of Africa and other continents and destabilized the ecological system. To solve the problem of global warming, we must stop deforestation, people must use energy and recyclable products, use vehicles that save energy and emit less gas and raise awareness about the effects of global warming and how it can be reduced in society.
