  • Essay / Animal Farm: Innocents or Lying for Power - 865

After reading the book “Animal Farm”, I thought it was a good book with a lot of similarities and I could relate it to reality. I also found that the author explained behavior very well. During this book, a lot of things happen that are very similar to reality, like tyrants, false power, and a lot of lies. To start, I'll tell you about the main characters and then what they will accomplish during their time on an animal farm. I will also discuss what they want, whether they are innocent or lying to be in power. This book is about many characters, mainly animals. There are six main characters, these being the first Old Major; an old pig who has won many competitions and is favored by Jones. The second is Jones, the man who ran Manor Farm before the rebellion. The third is Snowball, Snowball is a good pig who spoke very well and was very respected as the first leader of the rebellion. The fourth is the one and only Napoleon; a pig who looks a lot like Snowball. He helped lead the rebellion at first with Snowball but later disappears with some dogs. He returns and chases Snowball away to become the new leader of the rebellion and the farm. The fifth is Squealer; who is next to Napoleon as his right arm, he is the second best known compared to the other pigs. He is one of the best persuaders and speakers. The sixth is the large Boxer horse; he's a horse that works harder than anyone else on the entire farm. It has 2 quotes "I will work harder" and "Napoleon is always right". He adopted these quotes at the start of the rebellion and during the executions. There are many more characters in this book but they are lesser characters meaning they have a short role as an animal. Then I will discuss what animals want. First thing middle of paper...... The important event in the book is the beginning of the rebellion, because it is the beginning of a new beginning. It is also the beginning of a great adventure on which the animals are about to embark. The reason I say this is because it leads to many events, some happy and some terrible. Without the rebellion, they probably would have starved to death because Jones was always getting drunk and not taking care of them. In conclusion, Animal Farm was a great book that contained a lot of insight. The writer tells many stories from many points of view. There was also a great connection to the real world in that there was a false power and each animal could represent a different person in reality. This book was great and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading about modern times or government.
