To talk about this trail we must first talk about the man who gave it its name, John Muir, he arrived in San Francisco in 1868 where he stayed and fought for the preservation of nature. areas like Yosemite Park. He founded the Sierra Club in 1892 and began creating hiking routes so people could enjoy the beauty of nature. Finally, in 1938, one hundred years after its birth, the John Muir Trail was completed. This trail and the man behind it certainly have a great history, but the beauty that the trail shows hikers is what makes this trail truly magnificent. Hikers will pass through many different terrains while hiking the JMT, hikers will see many waterfalls that are directly on the trail or can be seen by taking small detours to selected locations or natural monuments like Devils Postpile National Monument. Hikers will also need to be able to get to high altitudes since they will be climbing high peaks like Junction Peak, Mount Whitney, Diamond Peak and many others. But they will also be lucky enough to be found in various national parks like Yosemite National Park or Sequoia National Park, “The General Sherman tree is 275 feet tall and more than 100 feet in circumference. Many “smaller” trees can also be found here. (gorp.com). But with so many different environments, adventurers may need different permits. Travelers will need three different permits; they will need two wilderness permits and a permit to have campfires in California. The first two permits are wilderness permits, these permits are limited to avoid having too many hikers on the trail at once and to protect the environment. But it's also important to keep a balanced diet while getting enough calories and protein to keep you going, but some weight loss is expected. The JMT is perfect for almost all levels of hikers but is best suited to hikers with a bit of lightness. of experience and people who are training to do the PCT because they share a lot of kilometers. But even a novice hiker could complete the JMT in 35 days or less if hiking at an appropriate speed.
