    Differences between Athens and SpartaAthens and Sparta are two city-states of ancient Greece. Athens had a busy port, ships passed by land. At the agora you could hear people arguing and discussing, you could also see people with their slaves walking and shopping, there were sculptors carving with great pleasure. A typical day in Athens was simply going to the agora with your slave, shopping and going to the hill for assembly, going to a meeting if you were in the council of 500. For women, a typical day consisted of running your household and teaching your children. The slaves did their work every day and some even helped other children in Athens. The people of Sparta were isolated from others because they were afraid to trust other city-states. Sparta was primarily a military state, so the majority of men stayed away from their families in barracks, which left their wives at home to take care of themselves.
