a large production in progress, a lot is expected of a technician. Time commitment is one of the main things needed, as being a technician takes many hours per week. Productions and rehearsals can last from a few months to several years, and they must be available for most rehearsals...... middle of paper ...... everything. Technicians are usually up for a challenge, except for the week before opening night. They are the ones the director goes to when something needs to be done. A technician must be able to think quickly in case something doesn't go as planned. These are the technicians who make the show work. They must have great skills in their job as well as an excellent work ethic, but the one thing all technicians need is to be able to think on their feet. With these characteristics, a technician can excel in theater. Actors prefer to be seen and heard, but without technicians this would be almost impossible.
