I first want to say that I was a little hesitant to choose this book. The saying that “you can't judge a book by its cover” certainly applies to this book. Seeing the size of the book, I thought I wouldn't be able to read it in ten days. The cover shows what I thought was a hot air balloon. The first connection I made to the book was from the images on the cover. I visualized images of The Wizard of Oz before I even opened the first page. As I read the book and looked at its spectacular illustrations, I was fascinated by its story and found it hard to put the book down. I read the book in less than three nights. . While reading this book, I found myself describing what I saw in the photos with my wife. She joined us to tell her part of the story. This made reading the book fun. My wife thought I was crazy for reading it out loud to her. It turned out to be our own interactive read aloud between the two of us.
