  • Essay / Redemption for oneself: example in the novel The Kite...

As one becomes an adolescent, one has the ambition to learn many things that were not completely understandable in the years previous ones. Being a year older, you have more of a need to want to prove yourself to all your friends and family. This desire to impress the people you admire takes over all your thoughts. Opportunities to prove yourself present themselves and you end up becoming a different person in an attempt to show your friends and family what you are capable of. What happened that day was you made a huge mistake, but the bigger problem is when you keep trying to be that special person. Fast forward and reality hits. The idea that you became someone else who didn't treat everyone well drives home the point that a lot of harm has been done. When it comes to making up for what happened, you quickly realize that there is only one thing to do. Now is the time to resolve the issue and seek redemption from everyone close to you. Redemption can be best described as a goal of cleansing the conscience and soul through good deeds and attempts to rekindle broken bonds with anyone you have hurt. Redemption can be explained as that push that can lead you to jump onto the right path and come back in the right direction. In the process of redemption, most find themselves both nervous and ambitious. There are different ways to try to achieve redemption. There will be times when all you can do to improve the situation is to give to the person. What happens most of the time is that the people who have been hurt the most by your past actions simply want to see you learn and grow from this experience. A very good example of redemption may be the story I read once: “The Kite Runner”. In this story you meet two boys... middle of paper... similar to forgiveness as they both strive to reestablish friendships on good terms. There are differences between forgiveness and redemption. Most often, redemption is self-motivated. The main reason a person would seek redemption would be for them personally. Another thing that would determine whether one would seek redemption rather than forgiveness would be the length and magnitude of the problem. Redemption is very closely linked to having to deal with long-term problems and forgiveness tends to be more frequently associated with short-term and small problems. Redemption is a key element in many people's lives. In my life, I have had quite a few moments where I had a great desire for redemption. Always remember that no matter what, redemption can and will leave you with a better perspective and a cleaner conscience..
