Essay / My strengths and weaknesses in the composition writing course
This semester I learned a lot of new things in my English 1301 course. I took this course last year but I had to abandon it because I didn't have a teacher who explained the work to me. And I really didn't understand what I was doing. At first I was afraid to take this course. During my high school years, I was not a very good writer. I thought this composition class was going to be difficult since I sometimes thought it was difficult in high school. My writing experience was good and sometimes bad. This semester in composition class, I had many strengths and weaknesses in writing. These strengths and weaknesses are what helped me understand the mistakes I was making writing essays this semester. My first writing weakness was deciding what to write about. I had to read the essay topic over and over again to understand what it was asking. I would be afraid of not understanding the subject correctly. While writing this essay, I was afraid of going off topic and writing about something else that I wasn't supposed to write about. Another thing that happened to me was that suddenly my mind would go blank and I couldn't think of what else I could write. The essay I enjoyed writing the most this semester was the second essay. I loved creating my own planet and my alien's quest with all the commercials I saw on TV. The most difficult essay I wrote this semester was the fourth and final essay. I got confused when I was writing the body paragraphs. This weakness in writing impacted my life by showing me that I had difficulty thinking about how I could write my essays. I think I should start reading some books and maybe I can get some ideas from them. Another weakness I had was runtime and comma splicing errors. I had this problem because... middle of paper ... something I didn't have a problem with, but if I had problems I would have learned in the lesson we have had. I have never been a person who liked writing essays. This semester I really enjoyed writing these essays and mostly because I was learning new things while writing them. Some things I could do to improve my essay writing is to not wait until the last three or four days before handing in my essay to start doing it. Another thing I'll do is if I forget how to do something or a rule in common mistakes I've made, I'll just go back to all the lessons I have printed out to have as a reference. I think this will help me a lot. And one last thing I'll do to improve my writing is try my best not to confuse all those words that I got mixed up. I will do my best to learn each word and its rule so as not to make the same mistakes as this semester..
