Helps are no longer one-dimensional in my mind. I now realize that anyone with the skills, empathy and ability to listen can be a help. This person will not be able to solve every problem, but should be a resource for connecting a student with others who can. In the most basic sense, an assistant may simply be a listening ear for a student. Student affairs professionals represent the first line of defense for student success. We are the backbone that drives the students from day one, whatever our different respective positions, we are all here to help you.
