First, Heathcliff ruins Hindley by encouraging his excessive drinking and gambling habits. Isabella is Edgar's sister, and by marrying her he gets his foot in the door to eventually become the owner of Thrushcross Grange. Heathcliff continues his plan to own the Grange by forcing Linton (his son) and Cathy (Edgar's daughter) to marry, which guarantees his ownership of the Grange. Heathcliff's revenge on Edgar is complete, he has lost his sister, his daughter, his estate and finally suffers the death of Catherine. As Heathcliff approached death and moved closer to his reunion with Catherine, his desire for revenge dissolved until he had no credit left to avenge the unbelievers. he is wrong.
