However, the diversity of the homeless cannot be divided into three general groups. Not all homeless people are unemployed, addicted to drugs, or mentally ill. If Bykofsky's solution to his three homeless groups were adopted, there would still be countless people on the streets. There are many other homeless groups. For example, many homeless people are runaway teenagers or abandoned children. Lacking experience, these teenagers cannot compete with experienced workers who are also looking for work. There are also several, like the old man in the photo, who cannot compete with young graduates with degrees. There are also physically disabled homeless people. These people include the blind and deaf, paraplegics or those suffering from chronic illness (67). Inexperienced adolescents, the elderly, and the physically handicapped are all victims of circumstance and do not fit into any of Bykofsky's groups.
