Winning the Fulbright Scholarship in 2008 was the greatest ambition I have ever achieved in my life. The scholarship gave me a considerable opportunity to be trained in digital architecture and gain sufficient knowledge in this specialization. “Digital Architecture” is one of the few specializations in Libya, and I am proud to say that I am the first Libyan female architect to hold a master's degree in such a specialization. This honor made me seriously think about granting it to my country by transferring what I had learned at the University of Tripoli (UT) and being the most eminent professor in this specialty. However, convincing my Ph.D. my studies at the University of California at Berkeley will be the continuation of my first steps in this field and will improve my knowledge and will serve both my country and my school which still lacks the spirit of accepting new trends in architecture. After my studies, a course in the architecture department sparked my curiosity about the connection between architecture and technology; Structural systems. By choosing Walt Disney Concert Hall as a case study for an assignment in this course, I realized how CAD tools are capable of increasing the expressive and geometric power of the architect, and how computer models can be used throughout throughout the design process to translate the architect's concept. “CATIA allows me to get closer to the profession,” said Frank Gehry, referring to the software implemented in his office. He explained: "In the past, there were many layers between my sketch and the final building, and the feeling of the design could be lost before reaching the craftsman. I feel like I'm speaking a foreign language, and now, all of a sudden, the craftsman understands me...... in the middle of a paper...... and it is an honor for me to work there. In short, my previous Successful studies in the United States have increased my practical knowledge, and it will definitely increase further if I persuade my Ph.D. to study at the University of California, Berkeley. American universities are known for their perfect courses, inventiveness and uniqueness. Consequently, my dream of being a well-known Libyan architect and an outstanding teacher who plays an important role in the development of her country will only be realized and supported by being part of your program. I am convinced that studying the. PhD in digital design at your school will open many doors for me later in life and I will dream that one day I will be the hand behind a design that people will stop and admire. The doctorate will certainly allow me to make a concrete and substantial contribution to the architecture of Libya..
