  • Essay / Three Idiots: A Good Movie for Students

Nowadays, students study at university and fight to achieve their dreams. However, there is a condition that many of them do not know what they want to achieve. What they always do is follow in the footsteps of others and do what others have done. For example, many Indian students try to learn engineering in universities because engineering is a popular profession with a decent salary. Even though many of them do not like this field of study, they are forced to learn by their parents. There is an Indian film called Three Idiots criticizing the aforementioned phenomenon. The Three Idiots director portrayed three so-called fool students who pursue their own dreams and achieve their goals after working hard. The main character, Rancho, likes engineering but he doesn't like the professors' teaching methods, which rely solely on memorization. The other two characters, Farhan and Raju, are not interested in engineering, but they first follow their parents' views to learn engineering, then change their minds in Rancho and do what they really want. I believe this movie is a good movie for students who are forced to learn what they don't like. It not only shows the negative aspects of stereotypical education methods, especially memorization, but also explains to them the importance of being themselves rather than just doing what others have done. This film can be seen as an examination of the education system. This can be reflected in what the main character always does, which is to criticize current education in India. There is a plot that takes place in an engineering class. The teacher wants students to answer the question “What is a machine?” » Rancho tries to explain his understanding of the machine, a...... middle of paper...... hey, you really want to. This film succeeds in criticizing the oppressive education system, about which educators know nothing outside of books. Most importantly, this film shows that students' dreams should not be limited to getting a well-paying job. Instead, they should follow their own ambitions. Using descriptions of the three so-called idiots' achievements, the director succeeds in showing that being yourself is more crucial than blindly following in the footsteps of others. For the above reasons, Three Idiots can be considered a good movie for students. Works Cited FHEfoxconnect. “3 idiots.” YouTube. YouTube, May 4, 2013. Web.
