In “Invisible Man,” Ralph Ellison uses symbols to argue the ideology of white supremacy. Plus, absolute control over the mind, body and future. The narrator's destiny was decided by simple objects placed in his life. As he himself is forced to be the object of manipulation for influential people. The control of influential people over the mind can be represented in objects. The mind control was deep and rooted in philosophies and perceptions of life distorted to suit the needs of white supremacy. The narrator's baggage in life is the past materialized in the form of a body posed by white people. Like a puppet of encapsulated racism. To be able to escape racism is to burn the
