    According to a 2012 survey by Graphicdesign.com, approximately 93% of graphic designers agreed with the statement that the graphic design industry is in bad shape and do not know where discipline is heading. The root of graphic design is the communication of an idea through art or graphics. And it's been a part of human history for the longest time, from cave drawings to hieroglyphics and from physical prints to digital media. It has become a well-established industry, but many who have worked as graphic designers for years see that it is going nowhere and has sustainability issues. But because the industry is adaptable, has economic benefits, and because there is a great need for attractive, seductive art that communicates, the graphic design industry will grow, thrive, and stand out from other creative industries because adaptable, economically advantageous and essential industries that offer a service that no other will develop, succeed or stand out. Senior graphic designers believe that this industry is on the verge of inevitable failure. Senior graphic designers have expressed concern about the industry as they see other creative industries such as game design, film, animation and fashion overtaking the graphic design industry in terms of popularity and demand in society. That the industry that was once considered important in business and “even had a seat on the board, so to speak” (Tortorella), is losing its real value. According to the survey, graphic designers today feel devalued by their clientele, especially by large companies (graphicdesign.com), because clients often undermine their creativity and skills.
