Genes work together to form a code and create a person; physically, mentally and personality-wise. There may be factors that contribute to the end result, such as the environment to achieve full potential, but all the initial groundwork is laid entirely by heredity. Not all traits can be expressed in all environments. For example, a person who is prone to diabetes and at increased risk, but who never gives up a healthy diet and lifestyle, will never develop diabetes.
