Essay / Noah and the Great Flood - 1031
The Great Flood was “the covering of the earth with water that occurred in the days of Noah (The Freed Dictionary)”. “In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of heaven were opened (Genesis 7:11). » The Great Flood had major effects on the earth as we know it today. This caused climate change, which led to the ice age and the most drastic change took place on earth. The Great Flood changed the climate, causing the development of the Ice Age. The Ice Age caused many problems, but the greatest effect was the death of animals. The weather changed so suddenly that many animals froze to death. Several species of creatures have become extinct, including mammoths. There was a mammoth body found in the Arctic whose blood and everything was preserved, because of the cold. The mammoth was found “in good preservation on the Lyakhovsky Islands of the Novosibirsk archipelago (Fox News).” Many mammoths may have survived much longer than the ones found on the islands, but after the Ice Age they became extinct. Mammoths all disappeared due to the Ice Age. Even though people hunted mammoths, it was always because of the cold weather brought on by the Ice Age. The cold weather would have made food difficult to find, so humans had to get whatever they could, even if it was a mammoth. Many plants also died due to the very cold weather. “Research has shown that the plant diversity of southeast Australia was as rich as that of some of the most diverse places in the world, and that most of these species disappeared during ice ages... (Scott -Melbourne, Rebecca)." The study showed that plants that died may not have been able to support...... middle of paper ....... 2013.McKie, Rob. “When Antarctica was a tropical paradise.” The Guardian.
