Sport has influenced society since the dawn of time. They have a significant impact on society in several aspects such as: economic, social and political. The impact of Major League Baseball is widespread, it is one of the old days when families of different socio-economic status indulge in watching their favorite athlete(s). Major League Baseball is known for having the highest paid professional athletes. These baseball players make well over a million dollars per season just to start. As their fame increases, their contract increases and the pressure keeps mounting. The pressure to stay the best and be the best is always at an all-time high. Even though this pressure is immense, it sometimes ruins the legacy and honesty of the sport and the player. The salary alone far exceeds what most average Americans earn and take home in a year to feed, clothe, and house their families. What is presented on television as a perfect and pompous lifestyle is not always what it is made out to be. Behind the scenes, these players are fighting for position, trying to break records to stay relevant. This is sometimes accompanied by the use of performance-enhancing drugs which are illegal and described in detail in each contract. PEDs are a way to honestly advance one's career and allow a professional athlete to perform at a higher level and pace than their teammate...... middle of paper ...... and to fight his battle. While others before him were convicted of using these drugs like Barry Bonds and José Canseco, they used Alex as an example of what will happen for this repeated behavior. He received the longest suspension for cheating in Major League Baseball history. By the way, this is an example to show viewers and spectators of this sport what cheating will do to you. Major League umpire Fredric Horowitz didn't believe everything that came out of Alex Rodriguez's mouth and pointed out his dishonesty and irresponsibility as a professional athlete. From Frédéric's point of view, Rodriguez did not have to use these drugs to gain notoriety. Rodriguez had to forfeit his entire salary for the 2014 season, which amounted to more than $20 million, as well as all other bonuses and incentives he would have received..
