Essay / Five Personal Aspects of Nursing Leadership - 818
Like any novice RPN, I would tend to focus more on the clinical area. Coaching and education of patients and their families will be important in making lifestyle changes to better comply with the treatment plan. As we all know, caring for a patient is not limited to nursing but involves other disciplines; doctors, therapists, social workers, practical nurses, dietitian, pharmacist, etc. and therefore the importance of collaboration. Patient advocacy also requires expert communication and collaboration skills. As I continue my journey to become an advanced practice nurse, I hope to develop all qualities, starting with expert communication, to the level where I can advocate for the needs of my patients in the health policy area. I would also like to work on self-confidence. I know that self-confidence comes with time, with knowledge and experience. I believe patients develop confidence when they see that they have confidence in their health care.
