    During world history, many authors and literary figures have surpassed literary standards and become prominent literary figures. Some notable authors include William Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens and Roald Dahl. This list does not include all notable writers, however, as all authors have influenced the world and literature in one way or another. However, one novelist in particular, Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy, has many significant influences on the literary world that far exceed those of other authors. Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy, or Leo Tolstoy, was born on September 9, 1828 in the Tula province, Russia (Cilinto, 1). Many events influence Leo Tolstoy in his writing, such as his experiences and decisions in Moscow, Russia. As his writing career continued, Leo Tolstoy wrote numerous fiction novels that became famous many years later. Even though he wrote books hundreds of years ago, Leo Tolstoy radically changed society by writing many important novels, recreating the literary world, and even inspiring many political figures. First of all, Leo Tolstoy influenced society because he wrote many famous books and novels that are still widely read by students and teachers, and he also influenced other authors. First, many of Leo Tolstoy's books are widely recognized in the literary world today. Many teachers and students still analyze these texts today, as they are considered advanced literary texts. Furthermore, Leo Tolstoy's books, including War and Peace and Anna Karenina, are still very famous from a literary and academic point of view. According to Biography.com, “To this day, Tolstoy's novels are considered among the finest achievements of literary work. War and Peace is in fact frequently cited as the greatest novel ever written.
