Has the anomalous spectacle been revealed for the mistreatment and subjugation of many poor human beings? We live in a time where many things that were once discriminated against are now accepted and many categories of people are recognized as members of society. Although there are cases that could challenge this notion, it is only a minority. This represents the progress humanity has made in understanding itself. But has the idea of ​​the freak show been abandoned with this new period? It is regrettable to say that this is not the case. In fact, this has only intensified with the advancement of society, especially when it comes to technology and social media. Social networks are the show and the barker in this relationship between the freak show and modern times. It is thanks to social media that we can see examples of freak shows displayed in our daily lives. I want to explore this further, explaining in more detail how the freak show and the grotesque of carnival has progressed with society like everything else and actually plays on these advances to contribute to the spectacle of the freak show and the grotesque.
