Essay / Assessment of the hydrogeological aspects of White...
IntroductionWater is one of our most important natural assets. If our planet lacked it, there would be no life on this planet Earth. It is the duty of hydrologists to study all the characteristics of the water bodies present on the site and their relationships with geography, geology, topography, biology and chemistry. It is the duty of hydrologists to understand the problem present at the site and then solve it by applying technical knowledge and mathematical principles applicable to solve water-related problems in civilization. These issues include water quantity, quality and availability. The main task of the report is to assess groundwater resources and quality, the second part of this report is to assess the surface water quality of the White River in southeastern South Dakota. The engineering team is probing the White River in southeastern South Dakota for two concerns, groundwater resources and surface water quality. White River has expressed no serious apprehensions regarding possible contacts from any prospective development in southeastern South Dakota. It will therefore take time to undertake a hydrological and hydrogeological assessment, based on an agreed upon brief with the natural resources present in southeastern South Dakota. Scope of Work The plan of the study is to prepare a preliminary assessment of the potential hydrologic and hydrogeologic aspects of White River, southeastern South Dakota. The following scope was proposed: On-site mapping of water masses, watersheds, flow direction, precipitation and runoff, infiltration and lithology of soil strata so that all small courses of water flowing into the river and its surroundings are clearly understood. The long-term exercise r...... middle of paper ...... but according to the schedule. From the analysis it appears that an estimate of 85 working days can be considered as the duration of the project. The additional days that were added are simply to compensate for unforeseen events encountered during the project schedule. Now, for 85 days, the number of working hours will be approximately 680 working hours. Thus, the project budget is presented below for the reader: Sr. # Designation Hourly salary ($) Required working hours (hours) Total salary ($)Project manager 150,680 102000Project engineer 100,680 68000Intern engineer 40,680 27200Scientific Researcher 60 520 31200Survey Assistant 25 600 15000GIS Assistant 20 600 12000CAD 20 600 12000Support Staff 15 550 8250Transport 0.4/mi 600 mi 240Contingency 40% 1103 56Grand Total 386246The project budget is therefore approximately $386,246, the calculation is shown above for the reader.
