Essay / The Footwear Industry - 876
The Footwear IndustryThe footwear industry is one of the largest sources of income in the market, but it faces many changes, rushes and difficulties. The great power of the industry is Nike Inc. what every other business is trying to be like. Some changes are that the industry as a whole is moving its factories to the Far East, such as China. The reason is that they are trying to reduce the costs of producing their shoes by paying workers less because they are in the Far East. Nike and Reebok are already present in the East. The footwear industry, excluding Nike Inc. try to rush to be number one, two and three. Another industry rush is the rush for athletic shoes. In other words, offering shoes for seasonal sports. The challenges the shoe industry faces include making shoes that everyone wears, such as establishing a style for inner-city and suburban dwellers. Another challenge facing the shoe industry is getting its stock value back up, as all stocks except Nike and Fila have fallen. This is the reason for the existence of the shoe industry, its difficulties, its problems and its progress. There are four major companies in the shoe industry. The dominant industry is Nike Inc.. Then Reebok, Fila and Adidas. Nike, as a superpower, has been ahead of every other industry for many years. Right now, Reebok is the closest company to Nike and is $2,459 behind in MIL value. Nike's profits last quarter jumped 24%, pleasing WallStreet investors. With such profits, Nike announced a 2-for-1 stock split, the second in many years. Nike and Reebok are way ahead of other companies because their factories are already in the Far East and other companies are just starting to build them. With profits so high for Nike, it will be very difficult for either company to take the top spot. Additionally, it will be difficult to gain public support for these products because most people trust Nike. Reebok, number two in the sector, is facing many problems. First, there is friction between management positions at Reebok. Second, Reebok has difficulty finding sports stars to promote its products. Finally, Reebok stock has fallen and continues to fall. The reason is that people do not prefer shoes because of their appearance and comfort..
