    Ornament is one of the oldest forms of decorative art. Its history dates back thousands of years. Translated from Latin ornamentum, it means “ornament, adornment, embellishment” (“Ornament”). However, in its early days, the ornaments have a deeper meaning. Art critics try to decipher ancient images and understand the hidden meaning of signs and symbols. Until now, the keys to understanding many of them are thought to have been long lost and, nevertheless, interest in ancient art continues to be unabated. Many ornamental designs have been passed down from generation to generation and remained almost unchanged for centuries. In ancient times, people believed that iconic images helped them communicate with the other world of gods and spirits and fulfilled the role of mediator between worlds. . Often, ornamental images were "the impulse to adorn arises from a deep-rooted sensibility to mark every occasion of life with auspicious symbols, designs and figures to obtain good fortune and protection from evil" (“The ideal of ornament”). Each nation has created its own unique decorative style. Originality and national color can accurately determine one's belonging to any group. It is in the East that the art of ornament has developed the most, mainly thanks to ancient traditions. In the second half of 1000 BC, the nomadic tribes of Kazakhstan had a Scythian style of ornamentation. According to Wikipedia, it was “often the central ornament of the shields carried by fighters. In the most remarkable of these figures, the deer are represented with their legs folded under the body, their heads erect and their muscles tensed to give the impression of speed” (“Scythian Art”). Blue has always been a symbol of the sky, yellow is the symbol of wisdom or sorrow, and green is a symbol of youth and spring. Over the centuries, the ideas of ancient art have been carefully preserved and passed from teacher to student. In this way, it became a tradition and the ornaments have been preserved until today. A wide variety of styles and decorative patterns were developed for architecture and the applied arts, including pottery, furniture, metalwork (Art).
