  • Essay / Creative Writing: The Legend of the Harp - 946

I remember that day clearly. Yet I remember it with an old sense of age and deep pain. I don't quite remember what she looked like in those final moments, but I remember the way her blood stained the earth a beautiful crimson. We were playing in a field, she was ranting about how beautiful the day was, while I just casually tried to walk home so I could hopefully get out of the scorching heat. She pulled spasmodically on my arm, trying to get me to move faster toward the tall grass, while I simply walked in the opposite direction, pulling her with me. She dug her heels into the soft earth, digging it out and leaving trenches behind, exposing the deep, rich soil beneath. We always hung out in the tall grass together, but today, on this humid July day, I just wasn't in the romantic mood. However, I let myself be dragged aside, towards the tall grass. The grass swirled around our legs, covering our clothes in sharp burrs and causing our legs to tickle. The sun bounced off the blades, causing them to reflect a brilliant white color, while the wind made them shiver. We have reached our destination; a small clearing in the shape of a circle in the middle of the grass. She immediately dropped to the dusty, rusty ground, dragging my arm and me with her. I fell ungracefully next to her, causing the dust of the ground around us to shoot up in a brown mist. It seemed to sparkle as it fell in a swirling mass. She fell to the ground as well, laughing as her tawny brown hair fanned out around her head like an angelic halo. While she was looking at the clear blue sky, I too was looking, but not at the sky, but rather at her honey eyes. They glowed with love and warmth. I smiled....... middle of paper ......g waterfalls, the place was beautiful. Heaven. We walked further into the oasis, my palms, damp and sweaty, twitched nervously inside the pockets of my pants. Looking around nervously, my heart swelled with joy when I saw the object of my desires sitting on a rock in the middle of a reflecting pool. Its elegant golden curves and pure white threads reflected in the light, making it sparkle. I was about to take a step forward when a horrible rotten stench filled the air. Abruptly, I turned away from the harp and looked behind me. I felt a pain in my chest and looked down to see that I was bleeding. Then everything twisted, like that day so many years ago. I looked up at Sho to see his twisted tearful smile looking back at me. Then I heard the distant clatter of bullets hitting the ground.Click.Click.Click.The blue water turned red.
