    Nationalism is a way of thinking that is both political and social aimed at creating a community united by: history, ethnicity, religions, common culture and the language. Many effects occurred during the creation of a nationalist community, some effects had a long-term impact on nationalism, and others were short-term impacts on nationalism. Bloody Sunday was a significant impact of nationalism, what began as a peaceful march of workers from St. Petersburg to the Winter Palace led by Father Gapon turned out to be a nightmare. The protesters wanted to establish an eight-hour workday, establish a minimum wage and develop a constitution, as the protesters marched they came under fire from Russian troops and several hundred protesters were killed. People believed that Bloody Sunday happened under Nicholas II because he was nowhere to be found when protesters marched to the Winter Palace, causing Russian troops to panic. The outcome of Bloody Sunday led to riots; the formation of workers' councils in St. Petersburg and Moscow and the link between Nicholas II and the people was severed, provoking the October Manifesto. The result of a short-term solution was the October Manifesto, which was a constitution to end the riots. The main intentions of the October Manifesto were to divide the revolutionaries. Italian unification had a significant impact on nationalism, led by Benso di Cavour, who provided much of the movement's ideology. Benso di Cavour was also prince of Piedmont-Sardinia and was named King Victor Emmanuel II. Cavour built the strength of Piedmont-Sardinia by creating a strong army, a healthy environment and political freedom.
