    Have you ever known a friend who grew up in a household with only a mother or father? well, I did. in a 2012 study by the US Census Bureau, the number of single-parent households is increasing (Family, Family and Divorce). To be more precise, children living in single-parent homes have almost doubled since 1960 (LifeSiteNews). Although single, mother or father-only households do their best to provide for their children. There are negative effects of not having a well-balanced family life. One thing that can be negatively affected would be a child's behavior. Living in poverty is stressful and can have many emotional effects on children, including low self-esteem, increased anger and frustration, and increased risk of violent behavior (LIVESTRONG). Because this child does not have the attention span of a child of two parents, this child may have to grow up faster than most.
