During the Cold War arms race between the United States and the Soviet Union, which has now been divided into different countries like Russia, Ukraine and the Lithuania, it was, as Charlie Sheen likes it, about saying “win!” » But winning in this context was based as much on the needs of the public as on control of territory and populations. The perception of the success of one way of life over another was just as important as the various other races organized by the United States and the USSR. The fact that so many political movements have been described as competitions, games, and showmanship battles, one over the other, is telling in itself. During the Cold War, there was a series of relays with very specific objectives: the arms race, such as nuclear power and the space race. These were the key objectives that had to be achieved before the other country. Much of the achievement of these goals was based not on reality, but on values created by the public.
