Essay / Does God exist? : An argumentative document on the...
It has always been a question asked by many: “Does God exist?” There are some who say yes and others who say no. Presented today, three statements argue against the existence of God. The first being the existence of the theory of evolution. Second, God is omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent, but how can he be if evil exists? Finally, God gives us the power to be virtuous and moral, are we actually following these rules or are we just following these rules because a higher power is watching? God is said to be the creator of humans, he is said to be the higher power who created the world and everything in it. It is widely believed that we are made in His image and that He created Adam and Eve as the first humans in the Garden of Eden. Some will attest to this statement which has since created an entire group based on what we call atheism. One of the most famous people to disbelieve in the existence of God was Charles Darwin. In 1856, Darwin presented a book called “The Origin of Species”. In this book, he detailed the first formula of scientific argument in favor of the theory of evolution by natural selection. Natural selection is defined as a process by which organisms become better adapted to their environment, tend to survive and then produce offspring. Evolution from natural selection is inferred from three facts: First, more offspring are produced than can possibly survive. The second traits vary among individuals, leading to different rates of survival and reproduction. Differences in the third trait are hereditary. Later in the years there was a decision that God and evolution could work together, which is defined as theistic evolution. Even though it exists, there are still people who believe that only one or the other exists. Either belief in the middle of paper or morality above all others and therefore belief in God is preferred to disbelief in God. There is also the argument that all animals, plants, and humans have a design for a specific purpose and therefore must be created by a creator who gave them said purpose. So, in summary, using the argument for the existence of evolution. If God is truly omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent? And has God given us the power to be virtuous and moral, or is it virtuous and moral because God said so. Ultimately, no one can completely disprove the God theory, it makes you think: Does God really exist? Works Cited “Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy”. Divine Command Theory[]. Np, and Web.
