Essay / Child Case Study Report - 1767
The child I wrote my child case study report on is named Malachi. Malachi is two and a half years old. Her height is 29 inches and her weight is 26 pounds. That's about the average weight of a child his age. He has short, curly black hair that he gets from his mother. He has round brown eyes and a short nose that he gets from his father. He is a very physically active child. He is developing well physically for his age. He can be social at times, but most of the time he shakes or nods his head. I believe he does this because he doesn't have time to interact with other people at home besides his mother and sometimes his father. He tends to be on the social side, despite his activity. He doesn't have many hobbies, but he likes to drive his plastic toy truck. He also has this bunch of plastic keys that he carries with him all the time. When he is alone, he will just count his keys. From my observation. He does this to keep himself busy because no one is physically watching him. His family has a dog named Lines that he loves to play with all the time. I think the reason he gets attached to the dog is because the dog is on his level. The dog will let him climb on him, pull his ears and tail and pounce on him. The dog is so carefree around Malachi that I think Lines makes Malachi want to interact with him because he can do whatever he wants and there are no consequences. His family makeup consists of his mother who works during the day, so he spends the majority of the week in daycare. This affects Malachi greatly. Since he spends the majority of the week at daycare, he doesn't get his mother's full attention. When she comes home after picking him up from daycare, she feeds him, ...... middle of paper ...... might have the same problems he is facing now. I know that seeing this first hand will lead me to be more careful and analyze my students better. I will do my best to be both a structured but caring teacher. I know that no matter where I teach, there will be cultural influences and each of my students will be different. I will need to understand where they are coming from and how to best meet all of their needs. I know that some of my students may not have an active parent(s) in their lives, which causes them to have behavioral problems, just like Malachi. I have to approach their behavior problems in a calming way, just like Malachi's mother. I also know that as a teacher I will face many problems, some within my control, while others less so. I know that when I teach, I will remember Malachi and this case study.
