    It should in no way be morally acceptable for scientists to be able to alter the reality of others, and yet Professor Zimbardo has never been accused of anything because he allowed people to be tortured in the name of science. If a normal person from the street tried to conduct a similar experiment in their free time, the authorities would never accept it. What Philip Zimbardo did was completely immoral but was considered acceptable because it was for science, but I guarantee you that none of the participants who played the role of prisoners would say that the experiment was good because the teachers had done good research.
