I decided to expand on my week 5 article, All About That Bass. Our mission for this week was to analyze the song All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor and give our opinion on the message we think the lyrics and video of the song conveyed to the audience. The second part of our mission also involved looking at “It's Not About the Nail” and Dave Barry's article which discussed gender stereotypes and their impact on individuals. I really enjoyed this article because it allowed me to delve deeper into the lyrics. of the song and analyze it in a way that many could not. The song originally depicts Trainor singing about loving and accepting yourself as you are, regardless of your body size. However, that wasn't entirely what the song was about. Instead, she attacked other women because of their skinny figures. I mentioned that as a woman with the power to make such a significant contribution to the lives of all young girls, she should have empowered all women. I would rewrite my article going into more detail about the cultural cycle and how she overcame social responsibility....
