    INTRODUCTIONAn internally displaced person (IDP) is a person who is forced to flee their home but remains behind within the borders of his country and who does not meet the definition of a refugee. At the end of 2006, there were 24.5 million displaced people in some 52 countries. The United Nations defines internally displaced persons as “individuals or groups of persons who have been forced to flee or leave their homes or usual places of residence, especially resulting from or in order to avoid the effects of armed conflict , situations of widespread violence, human rights violations or natural or man-made disasters, and which have not crossed an internationally recognized state border. figures for IDPs, as their population fluctuates constantly, as some IDPs may return home while others flee, some may return periodically to IDP camps to avail of humanitarian assistance. In Pakistan, military operation against the network of militants based in FATA, swat operation black storm and the floods of 2010 pushed thousands of people to flee and settle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). Today, the majority of KPK’s IDPs come from FATA. Different camps in Khyberpakhtunkhwa provide shelter to these IDPs who were forced to leave their militant-hit homes. In this regard, different camps have been set up for these IDPs including • Jalala Takht Bhai Mardan • Yaar hussain mira Chota Lahore Swabi • Kacha gari I Peshawar • Kacha gari II Peshawar • Jalozai Nowshehra • Sheikh Town IDP Camp Yaseen Mardan • Sheikh Shehzad Mardan Town IDP Camp • Shahmansoor Camps I and II SwabiJalozai is one of the largest camps in Pakistan. This study is important in this regard as it will focus on the problems and challenges faced by the displaced people in Jalozai camp. This study will highlight limited access to basic needs such as housing, food, clothing, medical care and hygiene.
