  • Essay / Free Clinic Project - 1205

The health system provides services to those who can pay for them; Unfortunately, not everyone can afford insurance and receive medical care when they need it. Many poor people are left behind in this system and something must be done to provide them with proper care and equal opportunity. Opening a free clinic is a way out of this situation, as it will allow people without insurance to be able to rely on the country's healthcare system and significantly improve their quality of life. This project should include the analysis of economic issues and special needs in order to develop a coherent overview of further stages of project implementation. Economic Problems According to the CDC (2012), approximately 46% of people are uninsured in the United States. The distribution of people who are neither uninsured nor equal; it is minimal in Massachusetts, but it deserves 22% in Nevada. The number of uninsured children is lower than that of adults; it affects 7% of people under 18 nationwide. The report shows several trends in the healthcare system. Up to 35 million uninsured people do not receive any regular medical services for a year or more (Cohen & Martinez, 2012). Poverty is the leading cause of lack of medical insurance among children and adults. 40% of poor children and nearly 39% of poor adults suffer from lack of coverage of health services. Lack of insurance is more common in the group aged 24 to 35. Representatives of racial minorities are more likely than others to experience problems with medical coverage (Cohen & Martinez, 2012). These facts highlight the economic situation which does not allow the country's citizens to have constant access to quality health services. A new free clinic can be a great contribution to...... middle of paper ...... created by people for people; it doesn't come out of nowhere. Only if all people and organizations cooperate with each other can the project obtain sufficient financial resources, equipment and medical professionals to support the local population.
