Gabriel Garcia Marquez wrote One Hundred Years of Solitude originally in Spanish in 1967, but it has been translated into many different languages since, becoming a literary staple for some One Hundred Years of Solitude has a lot to offer with hidden meanings and many creatively expressed literary ideas. Marquez had a writing style unique to his time. He wrote with the feeling that magic was real, that everything. everyone should know about it and that it was a common idea It was always present in One Hundred Years of Solitude, when many abnormal things happened, but in the life they led, it was common like when insomnia; took over the town and all the people were happy and excited that this phenomenon was happening. This style of writing was called magical realism. Today, this style of writing is much more common and is a form of. acceptable writing. However, during Marquez's era this was rare and few people wrote in this style. One Hundred Years of Solitude brings many different characters in and out of the story, seven generations. It all started with the founder of Macondo, José Arcadio Buendia and his wife Ursula Iguarian and their lineage spanned seven generations for the duration of the novel. Macondo being the only town still present shows the isolation that is still present in everyone. Additionally, children retain their fathers' names, so most simply have the same name. In conclusion, this shows a continuous circle of events repeating itself and showing a major theme of this story.
