Essay / Parenting Styles Essay - 772
Diana Baumrind (1967) was a psychologist who organized a study to identify 3 different types of parenting styles. One of them is an authoritarian parent who focuses primarily on being strict and following their own rules. Sometimes this can make the child feel helpless and think that their parents are being unfair to them. Another style is that of the permissive parent. This style has its own pros and cons, as parents would have little control over their children and would primarily rely on the children to manage their own behavior. And the last parenting style is that of rejection and neglect. The parents will have no control over the child and will show no interest in his life. Either style can change children's behavior and build their identity. When authoritarian parents can control their children's achievements and set the goals they should achieve, permissive parents mainly care about children's sense of independence and independence, which could be a good skill for future.
