How a person best retains information is considered their preferred learning style (Irvine and York 1995). It is important to know what learning style best suits a student in your classroom. Being aware of how a student learns best will help the teacher plan how to provide the student with the knowledge needed to learn in the way that best suits each student. Knowing students' learning styles can help improve both learning and teaching in several ways. Much research has been done on how people learn and how information is conveyed to them. As a result of the research, different tools have been created to categorize these learning styles and help people understand which style suits them best. There are two main points to consider when discussing learning styles. The first point is to be able to assess what type of learning style your students prefer and whether it is the best style for them to retain the knowledge you teach. Second, teachers need to think about how to teach students who follow a certain learning style or combination of styles. There are many options for teachers and education stakeholders to tailor their curriculum to any type of learner. Each learning style has its own specific characteristics. If a person's learning personality matches what assessments consider to be the characteristics of a particular learning style, that person will be classified as a visual, auditory, tactile, and/or kinesthetic learner. A visual learner prefers to see the material in front of them. When they think about information, they think in terms of pictures or images (Vincent and Ross, 2001). An auditory learner is someone who learns best by hearing things. This person would be...in the middle of a sheet of paper......and the court would help you and the students. The benefit to a student of understanding which learning method may work best for them is that if they are having trouble understanding an idea, they know that there are other ways to understand the information. Once students have a better understanding of the different ways they learn, it will make learning more fun. As a teacher, if you are teaching a group of students who do not understand the information you want them to learn, you are wasting your time. and theirs. When you teach material in a particular way and a group of students don't understand it, be flexible in your lesson because those students may have different learning styles. Ensuring that each learning style is respected in teaching methods will allow for a smoother educational experience for teachers and students..
