Physical abuse is abuse that causes injury through hitting, punching, kicking, etc. Sexual abuse is the mistreatment of a child through assault, rape, prostitution. Neglect is the failure to meet a child's needs such as food, shelter, education, and love (Jackson and Primavera). Although these three types may be different in terms of the form of maltreatment, they all have very similar negative effects on child well-being.
