    “I felt so good after using this, I want to try it again,” Sam said after using a drug called marijuana. He is an 18-year-old football athlete who is about to graduate from high school. He was a smart boy who everyone saw a bright future for him. After a year, Sam became a regular marijuana user, then marijuana took over his life and he became mentally and physically ill. He could no longer play for the football team because he was physically incapable and after a while he stopped going to college. There is now no future for him or his family. This story and many other similar stories about marijuana users and its effects on their lives are the reasons why marijuana should be illegal. Not only marijuana, but all other drugs that are dangerous and harmful to people and society should be illegal. By definition, marijuana is “a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried and shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant.” »(1) Marijuana has been very useful throughout history, for example “in 6000 BC, cannabis seeds were used as a food in China; in 4000 BC, the Chinese used hemp textiles; in 2727, China was using cannabis as medicine and by 1500 BC, the Chinese were growing cannabis for food and fiber” (6). But unfortunately, people today have made this useful plant very dangerous by using it inappropriately. Marijuana is the most common and widely used illegal drug in the United States. The scientific name for marijuana is Cannabis, but there are more different terms for marijuana that you may hear from different people, such as weed, pot, weed, Mary Jane, or chronic. Marijuana contains 400 dangerous and harmful chemicals, but the main one is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Nowadays, people consume marijuana by smoking or... middle of paper ...... bling, it's legal in some states in the United States, but people still do it illegally. Some also believe that by legalizing marijuana the number of crimes in society would decrease, but this is not true because it would increase crime. Society still has problems with alcohol which causes rape, robbery, reckless driving and murder. They don't want to face more problems by legalizing marijuana. And the other argument was about legalizing marijuana for medical purposes. For a long time, some people believed that the chemicals in the medicine could be useful in treating illnesses. But there are also arguments and research that show these beliefs are not scientifically true. Because of these arguments, research shows that marijuana is a dangerous drug and can be harmful to society and therefore should not be legal..
