When I used this exercise, I would put it into motion by doing exactly what the exercise says. This involves asking the individual to write about a period when they functioned at their best, then to reflect on the personal resources that made this functioning possible. By doing this exercise, it helps the individual see themselves in a positive light and focus on what they have done to maintain and complete the achievements they have set for themselves. In doing so, it helps the individual to introspect and think more positively. This distracts negative thoughts and keeps the focus on ways to cope and overcome obstacles. Sometimes when intervention is needed, most people are overwhelmed by thoughts and feelings of depression or hopelessness and don't think of anything positive, which can make it seem like happy thoughts might be almost impossible. This exercise challenges the person to think of times when they were at their best, which could promote happy thoughts as well as a feeling of positive emotions. When experiencing these positive emotions, the individual can then think about what they have done or were doing to be at their best. After seeing how they have handled things in the past, it could promote ways to better approach current or future issues from a different perspective. Conclusion. In conclusion,
