    It says that when God first created people, he created them male and female, so that both were the image and the likeness of God. At that time, He intended the two to be “one flesh.” There is no indication that God originally intended for man or woman to have superiority” (1). With this explanation we are able to understand what our rights should be. Stanton presents these rights this way: “We hold the truths to be self-evident: all men and women are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…” In the case of a “civil death” once married, there is absolutely no pursuit of happiness displayed or found in a woman.
