2 Pakistani men boarded the bus Malala and some other girls were boarding, three shots were fired after they asked: "Who is Malala, answer or I will shoot you all” (“Malala Yousafzai, 16, and her miraculous story of survival after being shot by the Taliban”). One of the bullets hit Malala above the eyebrow; she was then rushed to a medical center, where they airlifted her to Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Birmingham, England). After extensive surgery, doctors didn't even know if she would ever wake up, but a breakthrough occurred ("16-year-old Malala Yousafzai and her miraculous story of survival after being shot by the Taliban") . A few moments after waking up, she asked what country they were in and about her father; using a board to spell out the words (“Malala Yousafzai, 16, and her miraculous story of survival after being shot by the Taliban”).
