    During the adolescent period in life, emotions and feelings become more noticeable. It is a time when one begins to search for oneself and discover who one is and what one's personality is. Sometimes it is not easy to describe these emotions and feelings and we may not know how to deal with them. In some cases, one may represent these feelings and emotions in a bizarre form and it becomes a mental disorder or problem. In The Crucible by Aurthur Miller, Abigail Williams, the antagonist, exhibits signs of abnormal adolescent behavior, schizophrenia, and shows that she cannot easily manage her emotions. better known as abnormal adolescent behavior. Abnormal adolescent behavior occurs during the transition from childhood to adulthood. (Ages 12-17) Abnormal adolescent behavior can be best described as acts committed by an adolescent that are not easily accepted in society. These are bizarre, wild and almost crazy acts. Some adolescents reach a stage where they begin to experiment with different things and some begin to act extravagantly, without necessarily being able to control themselves. Some signs of this disorder may be aggressive behavior that may harm or threaten other people or animals, destructive behavior that may damage or destroy property, early sexual activity, and lying or stealing. These signs and actions can increase the risk that the adolescent will have suicidal thoughts or attempts, difficulty in school, higher risks of injury and trouble with the law, and sexually transmitted diseases. Abigail's actions throughout the story lead us to believe that after a while of pretending to see things, she becomes schizophrenic. At first, people never really understood what she meant when she said she saw things. After Abigail accused the people and the accused were hanged, Abigail continued to accuse innocent people. These people were immediately imprisoned. Abigail and the girls would have to come to their trials to prove that these people were witches and other "evil" beings. Abigail pulled a stunt every time and countless innocent people were hanged. She had no emotion or remorse for what she had done or what she was doing. This tells us that Abigail has become schizophrenic.
