  • Essay / Media Affects How We Perceive Gender Stereotypes - 1350

Society plays a vital role in constructing our gender. Often, he tries to define what it means to be a man or a woman. It strives to use broad terms to force human beings to conform to what society considers acceptable. For example, society believes that men should be strong while women should be sensitive. However, many groups of individuals have forced society to change its beliefs regarding gender. Over time, society has become more gender neutral in different aspects of life, such as in sports. Both men and women can play sports and receive equal media coverage. Much like society, the media has a huge impact on our understanding of gender. It presents different ideas and conveys them to society in a way that accepts or challenges the status quo. In 2002, Marger asserted that the company must make itself credible. So, this shows that there is nothing abnormal or wrong with marrying outside of one's own race. Although the television series Pretty Little Liars supports the belief that women should be perfect, it also challenges how women should be viewed by society. This shows that women can have their own thoughts and should not be submissive to others. Currently, we see as many women as men being represented in the media. As society becomes more gender neutral in different aspects of life, this begins to manifest itself in representations of gender in the media. The boundaries that were supposed to force men and women to conform to certain ideals are now broken. For example, women are now betrayed in the media by different professions, such as doctors or cops..
